I realized what was happening with just enough time to close my eyes and bite the gag. I didn't make a sound as pain exploded on my head and I blacked out.
**End Aly's POV**
**Regina's POV**
I had Killer on a leash and was walking him, just to get the heck away from my crazy sister. Can't wait until I can get away from here.
Nick: *grabs my arm* REGINA!
I yanked Killer away just before he took a bite out of Nick's leg. "Don't scare me like that!" I gasped.
Nick: Aly she... she... she's... GONE!
The world froze. "W-w-what???"
Nick: G-gone! Sh-she's gone.
Which he continued to repeat to himself, sounding so hollow and dead that I could tell that he was barely living inside without her there. Great. Freaking great. "Where? When?"
Nick: G-gone
I grabbed his shoulders and shook him. "Yes. She's gone, Nick! And unless you help me figure it out she'll STAY gone!" I shouted at him. Something moved behind his eyes and I let him go. "That's better. Now I'll ask again: Where? When?"
Nick: Outside the apartments. About an hour ago.
My mind was racing. "Who would want to hurt her?" I wondered aloud. "You haven't been contacted or anything?"
Nick: No
Just then, his phone rang and he jumped.
Nick: Hello? Yes. Yes. Yes. WHAT!? WHERE IS SHE??? WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO HER???
He listened for so long that I started to get impatient.
Nick: *takes his phone away from his ear and stares at it* Bridgite.
It took me a minute to remember. "You mean that girl you were... dating..." I said hesitantly, for lack of a better word. "Before we saw you again?"
Nick: *nods* She has her.
"What did she say?"
**End Regina's POV**
**Nick's POV**
Regina: You haven't been contacted or anything?
"No." I said just as my phone started ringing. I didn't even look at the caller ID but just snapped it open and put it against my ear. "Hello?"
?: Nick Jonas?
"Yes."
?: The Nick Jonas that's dating Aly Burke?
"Yes." I said, my throat constricting.
?: Want her back?
"Yes." I gasped out, knowing I was about to be tricked out of it, but determined to try anyway.
?: You'll have to listen to my directions exactly or I'll have to kill her.
"WHAT!? WHERE IS SHE???"
?: With me. *laughs*
"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO HER!?"
?: Nothing. Yet. Listen carefully. You're to come alone to the coffee house at the end of your street. You will walk to the back left table and sit down. ALONE. You will order something for yourself, and a decaf coffee for me. If you don't, I won't join you. Then you will stay there QUIETLY while I tell you the rest. If you don't do exactly this, then I'll kill the girl. Get it right, Nicholas.
There was a click as she hung up. But I knew who it was now. Only one girl had called my Nicholas. I pulled the phone away from my ear. "Bridgite."
Regina: You mean that girl you were... dating... before we saw you again?
I nodded. "She has her."
Regina: What did she say?
"She said that there's nothing I can do to help Aly." I forced out, nearly choking on the words even though they weren't true. " I need to.. to go home and be alone for a bit." She patted my arm sympathetically.
Regina: We'll find her, whether they think we will or not. Call me when you're ready to look for her, okay?
I nodded and walked away. I could feel her eyes on my back, but I didn't look. I drove to the coffee house and sat at the far back left table. I ordered a smoothie for me (I wasn't much in the mood for coffee right now) and the decaf for Bridgite. I waited. Finally, someone in a dar hooded sweatshirt took the seat opposite me.
