Find That Creature!
Animals use camouflage, sometimes known as crypsis, in order to blend into their environment. Camouflage is a means of survival that is used by predators and prey alike. The type of camouflage that a species develops can depend on several factors: the environment in which it lives, the animals physiology and tendencies (For example: an animal that lives a solitary life would use different camouflage than one who lives in groups), and lastly, if an animal is commonly preyed upon, the camouflage it develops can be influenced by the behavior and characteristics of its predator.
