Jay Coen Gilbert shares his vision to harness the power of business to solve society's problems through B Corporations -- a new standard labeling socially and environmentally responsible companies. B Corps will help corporations be profitable while solving society's problems.

Coen Gilbert co-founded B Lab, an organization trying to solve social and environmental problems by relying on the power of B Corporations, businesses certified to have sustainable values.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxPhilly, where x = independently organized TED event.

At our TEDxPhilly event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.

We could achieve more if we all worked together in collaboration for all of mankind not for shareholders. We have the resources to feed everyone surely a resource based economy would be the way to go Imagine all of those shelved patents becoming available to mankind.Human harmony not some dystopian Orwellian nightmare that agenda 21 will become, how about Just peace love and abundance, based on scientific understanding and spiritual growth that's where we need to go so lets just go there!!

My thoughts are that it doesn't bring much to the party. What Jay doesn't mention is that this is all part of agenda 21 which is most certainly a trojan horse masquerading as sustainable development.

Its new world order stuff, when everything fails as it will do because

Capitalism doesn't cater for human needs it caters for wants it doesn't cure cancer it treats cancer it is based on greed and not collaboration and social equality it is a failed experiment that has relied on wars try peter Joseph

Please note that the incentives aren't for businesses with "humanitarian purpose," but rather "certified sustainable businesses." Those would be the public-private partnerships that are the cornerstone of the United Nations' Agenda 21 plan. Also, please note that B Lab is being approached by cities and Feds "about this work." What does that mean, that cities and Feds are approaching B Lab to see how they can hand out incentives?

Too bad the picture quality is somewhat blurry. No reason to see this in the bigger mode (well, we've probably been spoilt by all the HD content).
