The ten stages are fully explained in the essential guide TEACHING THRASS (T-50).
T8. KEYGRAPHEME RECALL
Learners are able to visualise and spell the keygraphemes using the Say, Name and Write Sheet.
That is, learners are able to:
• visualise and spell the one-hundred-and-twenty keygraphemes on the class Graphemechart, from memory and in sequential order.
Learners are also able to
• recall the associated keywords on the class Picturechart;
• find these graphemes and keywords in books and signs; and
• practise reading more of the five-hundred English basewords in books.
Alan Davies, educational psychologist, demonstrates with a Grade 8 class (13 year-olds). The home language of the children is Zulu or Sotho and this is their first lesson with THRASS.
