One of the Tennessee Aquarium's green sea turtles got a new home recently. He had to be moved from the Aquarium's River Journey building to the Ocean Journey building next door. He needed to be moved to make way for a new exhibit. It's quite a process to convince a 305 pound turtle to swim into a harness for transport. So Aquarium staff had to plan this move out carefully to ensure everything went safely. Surprisingly, once "Stewie" was aboard the transport cart, he seemed to enjoy the ride. He can now be seen in the Aquarium's Secret Reef exhibit with "Oscar," the Tennessee Aquarium's other green sea turtle. Staff get a lot of questions about this little guy. Oscar was struck by a boat. The propeller severed his tail and most of his hind flippers. He also suffered serious injuries to his shell. Rescuers were able to save Oscar from his life-threatening injuries. Today he is healthy, active and agile in spite of his appearance. Go to: http://www.tnaqua.org to learn more about the Tennessee Aquarium, located in downtown Chattanooga.
