Also, too bad Tim Hudson will probably miss the 2009 season. Otherwise, the Braves would probably win the AL East.

Lowe will return to Fenway on June 19-21. Whether he'll start in any of them, who knows. Either way, I hope the Sox fans give him a standing ovation.

According to the New York Daily News, reports that the Mets are on the verge of signing Derek Lowe are "unfounded."
However, "a baseball official familiar with the Mets' thinking" told the newspaper that "there could be progress in the next week" assuming the Red Sox don't increase their pursuit of Lowe.

Yahoo' Sports' Gordon Edes says the Mets and free agent Derek Lowe are now deep into talks.
It sounds like Lowe was hoping the Yankees would come through with a big offer, but there's very little chance of that now. The Red Sox aren't believed to have any interest in going past three years with him, while the Mets will probably be willing to sign him for four. He'll probably get $15 million-$16 million per year.
