Here is something Steve and I worked on for a simple Pick and Place machine. It is slow but you put a board in go do something else come back and it is done. Stencil would be better of course. But this is for fun. We are useing an early version of my High Tech Systems LLC vise.

  • To answer some of the questions below. You can get solder paste from most electronics supply houses. You can do it faster manually because we had it turned way down. But why would you if you don't have to do it at all. The pad coordinates are from the locations inside the Eagle software. The centroid is found for each part between the pad in a hand written program using Excel. The data can then be download from Eagle and put into the program.

  • Good concept but the Mydata My500 screams compared to this.

  • Hi, where can I buy this liquid solder paste?

    Regards

  • I can do it faster manually.

  • Nice pick and place! Where do you read the pad coordinates from? Any sort of cad file (or gerbers)?

  • Nice pick and place! Where do you read the pad coordinates from?

  • It was hard to tell from the vid, but did you remove the spindle from the Taig mill and come up with your own mount?

  • That's pretty neat! Does it dispense a set amount of solder paste, or can it dynamically vary the amount?

Have a conveyor system going to a pick n place machine, and another going to a reflow oven, and you're well away!

  • Hi there!

Nice video. Do you happen to have more information on the dispenser part? How is it built, how is it connected to the CNC controller?

    Cheers,

    Hans
