All that dry ice needed to create an atmosphere is so cheesy. I thought Jon Hassell would be above the need to use such cheap stage gimmicks. As much as I love Jon's music I do feel that he's hugely overrated by journalists who specialise in hyperbole - some of his press reviews are laughably OTT. Jon is good but he ain't a god...

I saw him at the Stockholm Jazz Festival.... the concert was at 22.30, in a dark auditorium, it was magical......... the soundscape slowly evolved, it was dream-like..............

Thank you Mathias for sharing this video. I saw Marifaa in 2007 and even head chance to meet Hassell in person. Very kind man. Very calm. Jan Bang (live sampler extraordanary) also very nice. In your video no Peter Freeman :(( Pitty, for his bass is very crucial. I hope you enjoyed the real show. It seems still that a whole lot of people don't understand Hassell... yet! Thanx again!
