How to change U-Joints without a press

this is the way Ive learned to do it over the years and its worked well for me, got the pickup all finished now

thought you were a mechanic ? Think you would know that the u-joint cups are tapered from the seal to the outter edge of the cup ,when you pressed the cup 1 cup in backwards you bent the drive shaft ear on the left side of the screen,

????????????? jsut beat it in with expertize lke a mechanic should,that pur sugar factory ,stick to farming buddy

I''ve seen people bend the ears on the yoke while using a vice as a press. Two 4"x4" and a hammer and some sockets, always works flawlessly.

By the way, there are no tapered cup caps on a U-joint. How else would they rest and lock into the ear flanges on the Output shaft Yoke?????

I think I bent or broke something on my 1977 nova w/ 355.. Gave it some gas then something happened. Now when I barally over 35 and there is a vibration and loud rattling type noise.. Whe I put it in neutral and rev the car sound fine and when it shift ift fine.. but I think I broke a U Joint, did I ?
