The Circus is a festival that is held at the Church Grounds on the 22nd day of every season. It's hosted by Theodore, once the Mayor of Flower Bud Village (in Harvest Moon: Magical Melody) and now apparently the Ringmaster of his own traveling circus act!

For his first performance in Harmonica Town, his three main attractions go missing somewhere on the island and he can't put on a full show. Theodore gives you the recipes to each of the lost animals' favorite foods, and you have to go find them using your Animal Whistle and coax them to rejoin the circus.

Eunice the Giraffe likes tall structures, so you can find her behind the Lighthouse in Harmonica Town. You'll need to bake her some Good Herb Fish. I suggest using one herb and FOUR fish in the Oven - instead of just one fish - to increase your chances of getting a grade of at least "good" for the finished dish rather than "decent."

Trunks the Elephant likes trees, so you can find him in the small indentation of trees right outside of Fugue Forest (in Flute Fields). You'll need to prepare him some Bread.

Humphrey the Hippo likes swampy places, so you can find him in the boggy area deep inside Fugue Forest, right around the Witch's house. You'll need to bake him a Vegetable Pizza. You'd better start collecting ingredients early: aside from a Pie Crust and Cheese (which can be purchased), you'll need a Potato (Spring), a Tomato (Summer), and a Bell Pepper (Fall). I missed the Potato in my first Spring and had to wait until my second year to get it!

At the end of a completed show, you get to see the animals march around the Church Grounds... I'm pretty sure this is the "WAKUWAKU ANIMAL MARCH" that the Japanese game was named for. ^^ (Which is kind of weird, since it seems that there are a lot more important parts to this game... Although this is pretty cool.) Too bad I didn't have my Camera to take pictures of it like Theodore suggested!

You know, once you complete the show, you really miss out on something. When some of the main animals are still missing, Theodore has a duck act fill in for them, and I must say they're pretty hilarious to watch for the approximately two seconds that they take the stage. xD It's too bad they're no longer part of the show. They'll always only be backup! *sigh*

But, hey, don't you just love the pig!? xP It totally needs to have his own act in the show. That flower-snorting trick he does is pretty talented. He looks just like the pig from HM:MM, except less frustratingly dislikable now that there are no truffles to find. He also looks like the promo plushie that was given out for the preorder of HM: Sunshine Islands. I wonder why they didn't give that plushie for this game instead.

Oh! The secret of the Animal Whistle when you blow it without any animals around (which works only after Theodore tells you) is that you can call on an animal to give you a free ride to another area of the island! Like, you can blow it in the middle of Flute Fields, choose you want to go to Harmonica Town, and the giraffe will appear and ride you there. Cool, huh?

Finally, I apologize for the rather shaky filming. We got the scene during the daytime, and what I was seeing on the camera's preview screen seemed to show most of the words really blurry because of the light, so I kept trying to adjust. ^^; Sorry.

  • Is the circus part mandatory, or can you, you know... skip it~?

  • @ActionKanon

Haha, I guess you don't /have/ to do it -- and you certainly don't have to attend every single circus festival day -- but I do recommend returning all the animals. Once you do, you're rewarded with the secret of the Animal Whistle, and you'll be able to call upon the circus animals to give you free, immediate transportation to nearly any area on the island, whenever you want! It saves a TON of time, and now that I have the ability I can hardly imagine playing the game without it!

  • we have to find.... ALL!!!!! his missing animals? O_o

  • @seanw23

Yep! All of them! xD It's not so bad, though; there are only three: Eunice the giraffe, Trunks the elephant, and Humphrey the hippo. The other circus animals, like the monkey and the zebra, never go missing.

And, yes, first is Eunice. ^^ Good luck!

  • lol my lesson of the day, have at least an extra 5 of all the crops from different season in your storage

  • @RayofHope3579 thank you! i'm getting the game on christmas, and i'm doing all of my research.

  • @69biggsexxy

Nope, definitely not! You can give each animal the food whenever you're ready; the Circus doesn't necessarily have to be in town at the time (apparently, the animals know their own way back somehow...). Once you give the food, whenever that may be, you can be assured that that animal will be present for the next possible circus performance. And meanwhile, you'll get a letter from the Mayor that tells you how to get the /next/ missing animal.

  • @RayofHope3579 i just looked this up, and I looked for a video just to see if I had to do it all in one day..... Is that true?
