It's only using half the blade, what kind of a inadequate design is that?
Or is there a reason that I can't fathom?

The reason it's only using half the blade is because the piece in the vise is small, if I where to put a large piece of tubing for example in the vise then it would have enough blade available to cut that far back from the forward part of the vise. Comprende' my son?

Looks just like mine...most likely made by Atlas for Sears.
Is the weight on yours lead? Could you weigh it and tell me the weight?..I need to make one up for mine... I had that exact same motor on a Delta/Homecraft scroll saw that I had at one time...it had no tag..wonder if it's from an old washing machine?

@pv74 Hi,I removed the weight and checked it, it's cast iron alright and weighs 3.5 lbs. XXX.
