@metanosis I think, for the most part, the belittling is done for the shock value but rarely ends up yielding the desired result. Instead of shaming people into considering a position it turns them off to the idea all together. I mean, hell... in all fairness it's rather difficult to not mutter obscenities at someone convinced two of every animal was loaded onto a boat and subsequently repopulated the earths ecosystems... some of them need to be called morons.

@adsensus agreed, it is only a few doctrinaire atheists with an extreme ideological axe to grind, unfortunately they wield great influence, and have an evangelical zeal to shut down any critical thinking on these topics....they style themselves as the intellectuals, as tolerant, and theists as the backwoods morons, but they are the ones using vulgarities and unable to cogently defend their positions without descending to name calling, etc., etc.....

SHOULD we believe that? Or how about this - should anyone assume that his or her apparent perceiving of reality is an actual perceiving of any of reality at all, and if so why should anyone assume that?

I disagree with you on that. Someone telling you that he or she is in pain (or is sick) would not cause you to have knowledge of whether that person really is in pain (or really is sick). The person could - for example - be lying to you about being in pain, or could be mistaken about having whatever sickness he or she claims to have.

@Lysanderkuz actually you're narrow minded. materialism is not a theory it can be used against you in a court of law. why is the sky blue? why is the grass green? why do we all bleed red? id like to meet the stranger that can see a green sky, red grass and bleed blue. until then everything that we see is real and the only connections we make is through mature communication. if you're in pain or had a sickness i wouldn't know unless you told me. we are not one

@Biv1987 What you are saying seems very narrow minded to me. We only know what registers on our own nervous system (not to mention the interpretation of the information) with our limited senses. Therefore, why should we believe that the world is anything like the way we perceive? If most theories are to be disproven, why believe the theory of materialism to be true? (I'm not saying you believe this but the say you speak sure sounds like you do)

this is retarded. the big bang is still only a theory. most theories have been proven wrong or has had a fault that proves them incorrect to be supported. we're not all interconnected I don't have aids and i cant claim poverty or crime to be parallel to my reality. I'm not a dream cause the bills don't pay them selves. wake up you cant respond to my comment in a rude manner and still believe "we are one"
