Spun off from the hit korean drama "Dae Jang Geum" (aka "Jewel in the Palace"), "Jang Geum's Dream" is about young Jang Geum and her journey to achieve her dream through working at the Palace Kitchen. With great determination, she nobly strives, like her late mother did, to make people happy through her cooking, but many obstacles stand in her way.

Episode 1: Jang Geum's Dream

Preparation for an important meal is upset when Jang Geum and her friend (more like brother) Dong Ih's dog runs off and causes a mess. Luckily, Jang Geum is there to save the day with her innovative "tadpole" noodles. Head chef Lady Han (aka Han Sang Gong) thanks Jang Geum, and Jang Geum uses this opportunity to beg Han Sang Gong to take her into the Palace Kitchen. Jang Geum is then able to learn of a cooking test for young girls wishing to work in the Palace Kitchen. As She and Dong Ih head towards the Palace, they happen upon a fallen nobleman (who is really the king) in the woods. When they try to help him, masked strangers attack! Luckily, the two manage to escape danger and bring the nobleman to a doctor. When everything settles down, Jang Geum realizes she's late for the test! Dong Ih and Jang Geum rush to the Palace, but will they make it in time?
