But this is what you do,
1. TDC the motor
2. loosen up the adjusting nut for the timing belt 2/3 of a turn and retighten it.
3. Take the top timing cover off.
4. Turn the cam gear three teeth counterclockwist.
5. Then loosen the adjusting nut and retighten and you're done!!

I cant find that video, can you post a link to it?

Hi!
How did you adjusted the tension on the balance belt, did you used the "right" procedure or did you pushed the tensioner by hand?
-
wow the valves are very loud and need adjusting

I took off the upper & lower covers and adjusted the tension on the balance belt. Fixed the problem. Much smoother & quieter now. You should be able to twist the timing belt to almost 90* at its longest strech, and the balance belt should be noticably looser

Its a 2001 ex 4cyl standard. There is a valve noise in this video, and I adjusted the valve clearance so that went away, but the humming noise is still there from the timing or balance belt. Do you know how much twist you should be able to get on a balance belt or timing belt? I'd like to know if they're in the ballpark
