I made this video because for a friend or two who have had some past troubles cutting a mango. Hope it helps you too!

Although I made this video on the fly and didn't plan much of what I was going to say, it's a good visual demonstration - especially if this is your first time working with a mango. A few key things to remember are:

-It's much easier to peel the mango if you cut it away from the pit, or stone, first. Mangos are very smooth and slippery and it would be much more dangerous to try and cut it after it has been peeled.

-The pit is oval and relatively flat. Cut about 1/2'' on each side of the center of the fruit. If you run into the pit, just adjust accordingly and cut a little further out.

-The skin is edible but quite chewy. I usually can't see wasting any bit of declious fruit though so I'll sometimes eat them while I cut up the rest of the mangos.

-Don't forget to chew the rest of the fruit off of the pit too!

  • Mango has a very thick and is very soft when ripest making it cumbersome to use most vegetable peelers. Plus, they are very slippery and it can be pretty dangerous if you peel it first and then try cutting it up with a knife. Finally, its fast as hell and you can cut it into any shape or size you want. Show me a faster way to have cut and peeled that mango (especially one that ripe).

Although it may not look like it, there's barely anything stuck to that pit. I always eat what remains anyways.

  • Dude just peel it like you do with an apple then cut it.

Plus you just threw away a lot of fruit.
