We welcome International Students, whether these are at undergraduate or post graduate level. Some come for their entire undergraduate career, others for one or two semesters as part of an international exchange programme; others come for a year as taught post-graduate students, or enrol as research postgraduates at MA or Ph.D level. Others come to attend one of our Summer Schools, or to take English Language classes of varying duration.
As an international University, with a worldwide reputation, set in a scenic location on the banks of the river Shannon, the University has proven to be a popular destination for students from Europe, Asia, Africa, North America etc. Currently, more than half of all incoming overseas students in the University come to this Faculty. We value the diversity created by such international students as an enhancement of all students' educational experiences and as a contributor to the cultural diversity of the campus.
We are very keen to ensure that overseas students settle down happily and quickly into University life. An important element in facilitating this is the existence of excellent on campus accomodation. In addition a range of clubs, societies, other social and welfare facilities are all within easy reach on the attractive campus, with riverside walks, a 50 metre swimming pool and an all weather playing pitch also available.
An International Education Division exists in the University to offer advice, information and support to overseas students.
