I can't believe she was nineteen in this.

I have a sharp voice and I always dreamdt of having a deep voice. I used to say that whenever I was losing my voice, I always was happy with the raspy sound I ended up with because it made me sound so mature.
I envy you for a having a deep voice.

I sympathize with you - I always joke to my family that I sound like a Muppet. I love being petite, but I'd love it more if I had a deeper voice to contrast it.

I have the Anita Boyer version on the original ARA 78 record, and it's one of the best jazz tunes from the era. I highly recommend giving it a listen as well.

That's not Lauren singing, It's Andy Williams, at 15 years old.

Well she was 19 in some scenes, she might have been 20 in this one. Still she had a killer voice for someone that young. I think every woman should go through the training she got to deepen her voice.

"In the making of "To Have and Have Not (1944), Lauren Bacall's singing fell short of the necessary quality. A professional singer was brought in, but since Bacall's speaking voice was so low, a male, Andy WIlliams, was selected to dub her singing and did so convincingly." - Literature Into Film, Linda Costanzo Cahir
