WEST BLOOMFIELD, Mich. (WXYZ) - Larry Pliska owner of Planterra Conservatory certainly has a green thumb, spending hours watering and caring for more than 300 varieties of plants stored within the West Bloomfield greenhouse.

One of his plants has been with him for just about as long as he's been in business which comes close to three decades.

Pliska says, "I got it as a small plant. They make tequila from this plant.''

A giant Blue Agave which is more than 20 years old has finally bloomed, and sadly within a matter of weeks it will die.

Pliska says, "Seems sad but that's the plant world.''

One Blue Agave plant now, but as many as a half dozen will bloom more than 20 years from now thanks to the many seeds sure to come from the one plant now blooming.
