No-Clips Bmx Racing straight outta Bournemouth

A small Band of Brothers are pushing for a ban on clip pedals in Bmx race in the U.K. We ran a no-clips series and heres some photos by Steve Bodey that i put together.

If you look closely at the pics about half of em are wearing clip shoes

for example watch closely at about 0:33 those are the Shimano clip shoes

and again at 0:44 same shoes

if you are posting a video with a bunch of guys that wanna ban clips make sure they aren't clearly wearing clips in the video

maybe they wanna ban em cuz they keep fallen over on the gate on eachother lol

they didnt have any other thing to ride in,but i can assure you that there pedals were flats as you couldnt ride in the series with clips,especially as the organisers are all anti-clip..peace ...: )

Theres nothing 'BMX' about clips...they suck and ruin the sport...the rest of the BMX world looks down on racing because of all the sketchy, clipped in, skill-less riders who just go to the gym, put their clips on and pedal fast...its boring!!

i dont use clips

i dont have the money and why bother i mean that makes certain if the bike goes down while your jumping your gonna hit hard too.plus then its sorta hard to use the bike for street riding

the general belief in the bmx world is the clips makes people crash more.. but thats just rubbish.. you have so much more bike control clipped in

have clipless races if you want, but dont ban them. clips are only dangerous if you don't know how to use them, they can actually reduce accidents when you use them WELL(think back to your clippless beginner days, feet seperating from pedals when you get jabbed at or when your jumping

as long as you can jump and all that shit without clips, theres no reason to boycott them... they will improve your performance and if you adjust them properly, are alot safer then flats ever could be.

i personally slipped more then enough pedals to say "fuck flats" and ive been riding clips for the last 9 years without looking back, they are faster, and will improve your game.

The no-clip thing is just for people who get smoked by clipped in riders. if you were beating them, you would not be bitching. newsflash: they arent beating you because their feet are hooked to their pedals. they are beating you because they are faster.

i practice on flats so that clips are that much faster for me in the race.

I was around the sport when clips first started being used...and it just raised the bar that much in racing.

just like how pegs are frowned on at the track...no big, guys. relax.

I rode all my life clipless but all my mates who now mountain bike clipped in so i thought id try it. To be honest i quite like it now and iv just bought an om flier to race on and yes iv now stuck the spuds on it. Does it make you faster etc, well the world no1 Dher on the mtb circuit Sam hill wins on flats so i guess its just what you prefer to ride...

i love my clips i have them on all 4 of my bikes...2 of which are purpose built race bikes that never see the street...i catch myself trying to pull up on my pedal everytime i ride without my clips...they offer me more bike control and a way better gate...if you dont like them dont ride them but why do you have to try and turn other people off of using them?of course your probably goin to be stuck to your bike when you hit the ground but the pros outweigh the cons bigtime

@hipwell86 You are so wrong. I admit flat pedals are much more fun to ride with, but clips enhance the sport so much. They allow you to get better gate starts, and go faster on the track. That is what racing is all about. And if you have no skills, your not going to win races.

look i use flats for quite some time and i got tierd of getting scars and bleeding all the time from them and i use to slip everyrace and not make the main a month later i get clips got my first 1st place was able to jump way higher and could tailwip and there not dangerous out of every crash i feel no bigger pain cause i have them on and i have way more bike control so dont ban them just cause u think there dangerous and ruin the sport btw why would they have clip shoes if they dont own clips??

mike day 2008 olympics silver medalist rides clipped. And as for it hard to just street ride with clips.....how lazy are you to not put on your clip shoes rather then not? i mean most of them arn't even tied. ban them? keep trying.
