Attributed to Mozart by a pupil of Michael Haydn others now claim this beautiful lullaby, Sleep My Little Prince, to be by Bernhard Fliess (1768-1840) because a manuscript exists in his hand. Either way the lullaby comes across as pure magic when sung here by the incomparable Comedian Harmonists (1930s recording). To accompany the recording are pictures of Mozart, his wife Constanze and his two surviving children Karl Thomas and Franz Xaver, plus some video of the house in Salzburg where Mozart was born (thanks to 'gwendy1979' and 'aruntutu' for the videos).

  • If anything, the crackling sound gives the song a more home-like feeling. Kinda like a fireplace. Very nice song. :)

  • thank you for that treasure. . . what a treat!
