Based on the novel by William Gibson: the granddaddy of cyberpunk.
There is apparently a real movie in the works by Chris Cunningham!
--
The music is When the World Ends by the Dave Matthews band, remixed by Paul Oakenfold.
The dialogue is courtesy an excellent radioplay based on the book found here!

Blade Runner, The Matrix, Tron, even games like Marathon and Deus Ex...all owe their inspiration to this novel and its author.
In this definitive science fiction tale, Henry Case is a washed up hacker who double crossed his employers and had his brain pulled from The Matrix (the world wide fully interactive internet of the future) for his transgressions. Enter Molly the 'Razor Girl', a bio-mod infiltration expert who introduces Henry to a man named Armitage. He promises Henry his wildest dreams, a quick fix for his damaged nerves and a return to the Net, in exchange for embarking on an impossible heist.
That job will see him travel worldwide, mingle with the upper and lower classes of a world devoted to augmentation and cyber reality, discover the secrets behind a government operation and a new kind of A.I, and even have him fighting for his life against corp security and the family ninjas guarding his target!

  • Nice work, it gives really a nice feeling...

A stupid question: Where can I find the police car on 1:31 ? Have you a link?

  • @GaiusOctavianius

That's from Blade Runner. Any trailer for it probably has it :)

  • Actually Blade Runner was inspired by PKD's "Do Andriods Dream of Electric Sheep?" novel, and Tron came out in 1982, two years before Neuromancer was published.

Not to knock Gibson...it's a great book.

  • @swilliamrex

I guess I meant the Cyberpunk genre XD

  • What movies did you use to make this alot look interesting

  • @ffinfinity1

    Thank you!

I used Underworld 4, Miami Vice, Collateral, In Time, Chrysalis, Paycheck, Strange Days, music video for Paul Oakenfold called Ready, Steady, Go, Johnny Mnemonic, Repo Men, Mission Impossible 4, Freejack, Eagle Eye, Repo the Genetic Opera, Blade Runner, Natural City, The Devil's Double, A Sound of Thunder, Revolver, and a few borrowed elements from the upcoming video game Hard Reset :)

Mnemonic was just a spin-off story.

Neuromancer was the real novel deal :)

  • Have you read Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson? It's like Neuromancer, but on steroids. The protag is a master-hacker samurai who delivers pizza. It's won tons of awards!

  • This is not only the BEST FAKE TRAILER EVER MADE FOR ANYTHING, but it's so awesome that it makes me want to read the book.

Damn you, Youtube, for making me read books...

  • super genial

  • @youngidealist True...Gibson's Sprawl Trilogy rewrote the sci-fi genre. He Doctrow, and Stephenson are among the few of the recent writers that I really find relevant these days. That said, I hope that a real Neuromancer and Snowcrash movie gets put out at least in the near future!

  • @swilliamrex yeah. Neuromancer was inspired by DADOES, but it would be fair that Neuromancer officially put the "punk" in cyberpunk

  • "The sky was the color of television tuned to a dead channel" That line is describing busy traffic in the sky. The real movie should show that.

  • "I'd say you're full of shit..."

"And then I'd ask what your terms were."

That was pretty cool, kinda angry that now you supplied a voice to the Case in my head ;)
