  • I recorded it as one of the many people who were playing it for the Oct 2009 'Tune of the Month' in the forum melodeon.net, as you will see if you check out all the other youtube versions. Because I rearranged the bass line a bit, I just renamed it 'Speed the Ploughman's Lunch!', as a joke

  • Just making clear, this tune is basically the English tune 'Speed the Plough' collected by Cecil Sharp, but probably much older, and has very little to do with any Irish or Scottish tunes which may exist, of the same or similar name.

  • probably the titles I've earned playing accordion proffessionally , which is none of your buisiness, everyone with that tune on their uploads clearly stated that tune is not the Irish or indeed Scottish one, its not my fault the tune gets on anyones nerves after hearing it 3 times from mis-leading descriptions,

  • @BigRyanDoc8070 What's the "big" part of you - your mouth I expect. Your comment is not only insulting but ignorant.

A variant of this tune is very well known in Scotland and indeed Ireland. I suspect you are thinking of the other Speed the Plough, the one in D, which is indeed a different tune, more common nowadays. But it, and the name, came from Padraig O Keeffe.

  • great playing, shitey english morris dancing poof masonic bullshit tune.. get the fucking name right, this isnt the ploughman's lunch, the tune with that name is Irish and is far older than the one you play, at least in your description state that it has no connection to the Irish tune
