yes lets be clear-the "respect: goes both ways-period. It's not right that on that 6th day, you are hit w/the 10%fee which I feel if a good tenant and hit w/a hard time, the landlord should work w/that too b/c if you're late, you're prob hvng hard time as is.Now if habit.diff story.CODE VIOLATIONS HMMM-Landlords-most places I've lived, many violations. It's ok for you NOT to fix holes in ceilings frm water pipes, floods from bursting pipes, hence loss and damage for tenant.BTH WAYS

These fuckin landlords! Somebody lives in an apartment for 35 years and they think they can just charge them any amount they want, or throw them out into the street. Somebody's gotta put the hurt on these fuckers!!!

@billg4630 its not always that simple.. but I'd talk to your landlord about your situation and keep on top of calling them and letting them know when and how much you'll pay. If you paid your rent before your problem they're more than likely able to work with you.. people do go through ruff times. Not everyone trys to get out of things

A landlord in Cincinnati refused to fix the sewer that continued to backup in the basement. Eventually, the whole house smelled of feces. The kids started getting sick. When the tenants complained to the city, the landlord told them they had to leave in 3 days or he would "set their shiit outside". This is actually a fairly common practice, (threats to evict without going to court) and is completely illegal. If you're looking for criminal activity--look to landlords, not tenants.

If all else fails with idiot landlords - take them to the tenancy branch - a health office(especially for heating issues) or just take them to court and sue them for un-enjoyment of your suite.
