CustomGuitarVideo.com José Romanillos became famous by building the guitars for Classical Guitar Virtuoso Julian Bream. He his one of the last icons in Spanish guitar making tradition. He wrote numerous books about the Spanish guitar and the man who defined the classical guitar as we know it today, Antonio de Torres. We spent a whole week in Següenza, Spain close to Madrid to document his last guitar. This film had been made by the Bournemouth & Poole College of Art. Gourmet Guitars restored and digitalized this old 1980 master-piece. It is an extremely rare film-document, well worth to be preserved for future generations. Presented with explicit permission of the Bournemouth & Poole College. www.thecollege.co.uk

  • Behind the success of great guitarists (whose guitars are totally hand-made), there lies invaluable, yet silent contribution of guitar builders.

    God bless you !

  • when I was at a very young age my parents bought me a small classical guitar and the smell of the wood made me a guitarrist. I still love that smell.

  • He's not a maker, He's an Artist.

  • 1:05 Look at that scraper... that is *exactly* what it should look like when you know how to get them sharp and use them properly. Dependence on power tools and "clever sharpening gadgets" has made hand tool sharpening a lost art. I see so many guys picking up a scraper and making dust and ragged little curls with them.. or a chisel that bludgeons and splits wood instead of shaving and severing it. I love watching guys like Romanillos work. If you watch closely, it's like taking a master class.
