@StikWitClassics I think she had become so accustomed to being abused that she couldn't put all that behind her and trust him right away...I do think she had just begun to trust and love him, only her father came back and destroyed everything.

Yes those racists in those day saw it as a crime if a not white person was in love with a white women. Best instance was black heavyweight champion Jack Johnson who was chased like a dog, just because he was married to a white woman

All I have to say is Broken Blossoms made me an emotional shipwreck. There is no need for words to feel the girl's scared heart.

I'm not sure but I think she's supposed to be 15. I think something was mentioned at the beginning about 15 years ago, a bundle of rags (baby) was delivered to the man.

Somehow, I got shivers with the scene of her father confronting Lilian even though the acting is often over the top in the silent movie era. Shows that a real good actors show emotion thru action than words
