Yuthok Yonten Gonpo has lived in the twelfth century and is recognized as the
Father of Tibetan Medicine. It is said that the young man left in Yuthok
inherits two jewels, known as the Four Tantras (the classic text
on Tibetan Medicine) and Yuthok Nyingthig (a very spiritual practice
important and also the most compact for the practitioners of medicine
Tibetan).
Yuthok The Young predicted that future doctors would
so busy they do not have time for spiritual practice. Thus
composed a very brief practice: the practice known as Yuthok
Nyingthig. The best taught his students so they also passed
transmission. The practice was subsequently handed down to successive
generations of Tibetan doctors in a single unbroken lineage.
