As timely as today's headlines: once called "King Borkman," John Gabriel had visions of saving humanity through a Ponzi-like scheme that failed. The play has been called Ibsen's King Lear for good reason. Disgraced, his wife bitter, and his family life in total disarray, Borkman strove to "gain the world" only to lose his soul. John Gabriel Borkman contains all the elements of a T.V. soap opera, but Ibsen, the magician, transforms this all into a gigantic clash of characters and passion, filling the stage with poetic language and mythic depth.
Here are a few images from the rehearsal. We hope you can make it to the show!
