@jkumarbj Yes, that's do-able. The M17X R2 should be able to support any combination of three (two external plus laptop display or three external displays) but -only- three (no three external displays plus laptop display). You'll need one of the three monitors to be either a DisplayPort monitor or a DVI/VGA monitor with an Active DisplayPort adapter going into the DisplayPort on your M17X R2. The adapter dongles I use are made by a company called Accell and are sold on Amazon.
@troyger1 In order for this to work you have to have three video outputs. There's no way to split video on existing ports exactly (there's a way to do it on newer DisplayPorts but I don't know of any manufacturers that actually support this yet). My m17x R2 has VGA, HDMI and DP out so if I use all three it works great. Since I made this video I've built a proper gaming rig with a 6 output ATI card.

@troyger1 Like I said before, go to ATI's website and look up the Eyefinity pages. They'll have a current list of active dongles that will let you run a third display. I use the Accell dongles that you can get off of Amazon for about $30. Just make sure it's an ACTIVE dongle or it won't work.

@troyger1 Read the other comments for most of the info you are looking for. VGA/DVI/HDMI ports will only let you run up to two monitors no matter how many ports you have on your machine. To run 3, at least one of them has to be running via DisplayPort. This means you have to use a DisplayPort monitor -or- an Active adapter to DVI or VGA (they don't make Active HDMI adapters). Passive adapters will not work. Active adapters behave like a DisplayPort monitors but otherwise work the same as passive

nice setup!!
my question - is it possible use one monitor in left & one in right in middle laptop screen ? have you try that? if yes what adapters you are suggesting???
what setting you have to do in laptop before you use 3 monitors..?
i have m17x R2 940XM 2x5870
8gb ram & 512 SSD
1920x1200 Resolution

@jkumarbj Make sure the adapter you buy is an "Active" adapter specifically. There are also "Passive" DisplayPort adapters and these will not work. A single link Active adapter (good for monitors up to 1920x1200) should be fine for what you are looking for and they'll run you around $25-$30. To my knowledge there are only Active adapters to DVI or VGA, not HDMI.
