Long before Jenny, Seance, Madonna and Britney, there was the Shirelles, Lesley, Aretha, the Shangri-Las and the great ladies of Rock and Roll. The backing tracks consists of 3 versions of BE MY BABY (the Ronettes in 1963, Reparata and the Delrons in 1970, and Anita Humes and the Essex in 1964). The song was written by Jeff Barry, Ellie Greenwich and Phil Spector in 1963.

  • R.I. P. Ellie Greenwich. Greenwich passed away on August 26, 2009. She and then-husband Jeff Barry were two of the premier songwriters in the 1960s. BE MY BABY was one of their many hit compositions.

  • R.I.P. Estelle Bennett.

  • Is the second version Reparata and the DelRons?

  • The first version--RONETTES, 1963

The second version-REPARATA and DELRONS, 1965

The third version--ANITA HUMES and ESSEX, 1964

  • Where did you get those pics of The Angels? I've never seen them before.

  • From album covers and other sites about girl groups.
