In 1989, this reminded me so much of the comment in CS Lewis's *The Last Battle* regarding Narnia: "I saw it born; I did not think I would live to see it die." I was just old enough to remember the dramatic shot of the soldier jumping the barbed wire fence and the beginnings of the wall the next day. I did not think I would live to see it demolished. Still, a cautionary lesson re China and other oppressive regimes like Iran: none of us are free until all of us are free.

a few were pushed over then deliberately stopped while more speaches were made
