Mavi Kan is a band from Zagreb(Croatia) that shares a border with many performers and musical styles. Composed of three core members, Sakin Modronja(lead vocalist), Bruno Urlic(violin) and Marijan Jakic(saxophone) Mavi Kan became its own entity in 2007 with the release of the album Ornamental. The album combined sevdah(bosnian love songs), pop, and smooth jazz elements in an approach similar to Gotan Project, but also folky, passionate, with a variety of sounds like doudouk, bandoneon, darbuka, manouche guitar... Music lovers wishing to discover the Balkan do not need to purchase a plane ticket, surf the Internet, or even watch an international newscast. All they need is a copy of Ornamental, and Mavi Kan will be their musical tour guide for a visit to this corner of the globe
