"Dicking around in the real-time stream."

  • @PropellerBusted Just to clarify, Matt said "... *digging* around in the real-time stream." :)

  • this s a great channel

  • I don't get the whole real time thing. Why would I want to run a real time search when I am searching for facts? Aren't the contents composite with regards to my search query more important than what happened just there and then?

I REALLY like that you're going to work on your interface. Especially if you're looking to work with social search. I think ASK had a good visual expression a couple of years back. :)

  • This was realized and it was very effective.

  • my DAD knows Matt Cutts [:

  • I'd like to see Google looking for higher quality content to rank higher and not just sites with authority. I mean, my competitor sites have been around for 10+ years and my site is only a year old. They have 10,000x the content I have, but my service isn't any worse than theirs.

  • @GoogleWebmasterHelp

I knew that, I couldn't resist though! My sense of humoUr is that of an elementary school student. ^____^

  • yes I agree, I think google is stressing too much on real time nowadays

  • I like that real-time search and site hacking are the predictions for 2010, but it does seem a bit passe in scheme of things. I was hoping to hear more about social integration, FriendConnect prominence, mobile search, local search community enhancement (ORM), or possibly some type of human authentication using biometrics to get help get human-supported site scoring that supports non-logged in user search results. Still good stuff - thanks for sharing!

  • @jezwebb - absolutely! However, it is not that we want to exchange accuracy with real time. We want to have what we want, when we want. There is still a lot to learn from search phrases and sequential search patterns that could return better search results to me as a user.

In the end I think it is all about presentation and interface design though. Someone out there will come up with a fancy solution that takes aim at solving the majority of the searchers needs.

  • @jesperthegreat I think this relates to the idea that the internet is going to overtake TV as the major provider of content, and so that content needs to be up to date. No one needs yesterday's news.
