The poppy red dress

Over the wide green meadow one summer day
She watched him running to her from far away.
Her dress was bright red
As she had said.
The most beautiful dress that she had.

Red as the poppies
Her dress was red as she had promised long him before.

Between the soft green culms nobody could see
The tender and long embrace that filled her with glee.
She looked into his eyes.
He had told her no lies.
Green as the lush grass were his eyes.

Green as the meadow
His eyes were green as she had never seen before.

One winter day she found her poppy red dress
Fallen down from the hanger and it was a mess.
She remembered her dream
She forgot in between.
Red poppies and unreal green.

Green as the meadow

She folded her dress and put it high on the shelf.
One day maybe I´ll wear it, she said to herself.

What a sweet tune and bittersweet lyric - wonderful composition!

How did you get your tin whistle to play so well? I got one a while back and cannot seem to get nearly as clear and loud a note as you do here - bravo!

@Plans4Nobody Thank you very much. I think it is a good tin whistle I have, a Waltons. It sounds quite good. Sometimes I take it and practise a bit on it.

I once had a wooden whistle.

But it wouldn't whistle.

So I bought a steel whistle.
