  • We can't tell exactly how much oil America has, but that's true there're alot of resources underground in the US, there must be other reason not to use it.

  • Bakken holds huge reserves, but they are technically challanging to extract and no way near the 500 billion barrels you're mentioning. The $16 a barrel you're talking about looks more like $70 to me, simply to make operations feasable. Frakking fro; shales can be just as cumbersom and capital intensive as deep sea or tarsands. Compared to an annual global decline rate of 5% to 9% in crude extraction on a daily basis, Bakken means nothing. It will never offset the trend of diclining production.
