@ShredST LOL! I need to practice what I preach, cause I get stuck all the dam time! Holdsworth is a genius, far ahead of his time, and DiMeola too. I like Francesco's style, I think he will get really start to surprise people in future projects.
I love his "outside" playing at the end! He is great at guitar, stop saying that it's more impressive to be self taught. Rather, it slows you down really, it takes longer to learn on your own and gets frustrating, and most quit. it does weed out the weak, but you DO eventually get stumped, especially when trying to modulate keys and come up with complex arrangements.
Chris storey was all shall perish. Francesco is still a phenomenal guitarist, don't get me wrong, but the new album just doesn't FEEL like ASP anymore to me... Chris' guitarwork is what made All shall perish so great in my mind. The new album is good in it's own right, though I'm not a fan of the guitar tone they used, and it's something newer listeners might see as ASP. but for someone who's been around since the price of existence, it just isn't the same.
@archangel312 I love Chris Storey and Francesco Artusato equally, and I always thought Chris said he was a self taught guitar player? If so, then I would say Francesco has the edge in music theory knowledge since he attended a musical college, especially such a good one. Just my two cents. Chris seems to have a more natural affinity for the guitar, while Francesco is also a natural but also has the musical education. But overall, does it really matter? Both kick major ass at guitar.
