Dr. Manny talks about a mysterious disease affecting women called vulvodynia, a chronic discomfort of the vulva, or the opening of the vagina. Dr. Manny offers advice on the treatment of this affliction.
Hello Dear Andrea, I did the same surgery and now after one year Im wishing to die, because since then I have not one day without pain and the doctor almost say to me I´m insane because all the tests say I´m ok, Its so frustrating, All I do is crying everyday, please tell me how you doing?
i think i might have this problem, im 17 years old and have an appointment at the hospital next week to have some test maybe or something like that, im extememily nervous because of the pain im in, im rli scared of them even putting a q tip in me because i know for a fact its going to hurt
Advantan Fatty Ointment used sparing only at night just before going to bed and a mild antidepressant Allegron one at night again, 10mg. Within a week a had a significant improvement, the burning started to subside, the vaginal pain also as well as the urinary frequency also started to subside, after about 2 months things were almost back to normal, I did find however that I had to a lot of pelvic floor exercises as it affect the muscle strength also, I hope this information will help you.
Thank you Dr. Manny. Gynecologist usually treat the reproductive organs without considering or understanding the complex nerve endings of women in the pelvic and genital area as this is not in their training . Neurobiologist or neuroscientist study nerve pain such as vulvodynia in which these nerves are from the pudendal nerve. An anesthesiologist can perform nerve blocks and anti-inflammatory injections for the pain. All women are different. This pain is not in women's heads.
Vulvodynia can also be caused by pudendal nerve damage from a gynecological surgery. One doctor who performs pudendal nerve damage/entrapment diagnosis is Dr. Mark Conway OB/GYN and pudendal nerve blocks is Dr. Eduardo Quesada at Elliot Hospital in New Hampshire.
Good video the pain can be horrible. I developed vulvodynia and vagina-cervical pain with nerve damage from a deep LEEP conization and an untreated infection.
The first thing you should do is eliminate any outside factors; monitor your diet (caffine can be killer), eliminate allergens from laundry detergents and douche soaps. DONT USE ANY HARSH SOAPS AND DONT DOUCHE. It disrupts the natural pH, so just clean with water. If its only been 5 months as compared to other women's conditions which can span decades, the cause will more likely be something like this.
Thank you so much for posting this article. More people do need to know about this so women like me can get help.
I've suffered with this for 17 years. In my travels I have heard women say that acupuncture works well. There is also a sugical proceedure that can be used. At this point, I almost don't care what I have to do to have a life!
I have been tested for everything under the sun and my doctors (3 of them) Have told me there is nothing left to test. I am frustrated and barely able to move. My vaginal area burns, is in pain and itches for the past 5 months.. Are there tests for this and what is treatment
