This is a great tune written by Ted Daffan. Tex Ritter recorded it in 1950. Webb Pierce changed the lyrics in 1953 and took it to #1 calling it "Its been so long."
Faron had a top five hit with the original in 1955.
Somebody could probably adapt the tune to modern lyrics today and have a top hit.
