And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. (Gen 6:5)
But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. (Isa 64:6)

Freedom is only found when we see our sin, our state before a Holy and Perfect God, and come into repentance in Jesus Christ and Him alone for the forgiveness of sins then are we truly free and know the truth of God which is found in His Word. "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." - John 8 "For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted..." - 2 Cor 7
Within the fortress of a tightly defined belief and way of life, there are many who find freedom. But it is a freedom from the more complex world of individual thought and the entertainment of the doubts that should be applied to any theology or religious book. Paul Washer type leaders are daddy figures many religious people require. Go to church and scolded for you naughtiness. Feel good and free when daddy says you are good and free, which isn't often.
Well unfortunately there is only one truth and that is Jesus, only one way to the Father and that is Jesus, only one way of life and that is Jesus, those who deny this absolute truth have decided to believe a lie and are a slave to it. And there is no freedom in that. "He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." (john 3:18) cont...
"And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God." (john 3:19-21)
Paul Washer found his calling as the accuser of believers. If he was born earlier in Christian history, he would be an inquisitor, torturing out confessions for heresy and witchcraft. He would oversee the burning at the stake of heritics and doubters. Washer would be a good soldier of the church purging out wickedness and dirtiness wherever it was found at the point of the sword. Alas, Washer was born out of time; he must constrain himself under the rules of a more enlightened time.
