This is an EXCELLENT video in many ways as it shows what RIGHT LOOKED LIKE; the 82nd ABN had light tanks, its paratroops had good camouflaged "ragtop" helmets, they combined-arms for maximum force synergism.
Afghanistan Failure 2001
Then Clinton-era, peacekeepernista Stryker truck obssesed HQDA began to sabotage the Airborne out of zero-sum envy so when the need to get Osama Bin Laden (OBL) in Afghanistan beckoned in 2001, it was without armored, ground cross-country mobility (XCM). XVIII Airborne Corps discreetly asked for the 4 x M8 Buford AGS light tanks the Army had bought with taxpayer monies and assembled a scratch force of borrowed NCARNG M113A3 Gavins for escorting light mechanized infantry in order to parachute drop two Division Ready Brigades (DRBs) to physically block OBL & clowns escaping across the border into Pakistan

--but corrupt Army officials [Mr. LAV3/StrykerGeneral Eric Shinseki, Army CSA] and SecDef Rumsfeld rejected the operation as it would mean bye bye! "terrarist" boogieman for their occupy other people's country-racket in wheeled trucks. I was there when this unfolded and this is verified now in a report by Congress (3:40) and insider revelations by retired Colonel Douglas Macgregor (4:32):

So OBL has been on the loose now for several years unless his kidneys conked out and he can't get a local CIA station to give him dialysis.
Iraq 2003
The Airborne was ready to air-mech nab dictator Saddam Hussein but some liaison officer loudmouths at CENTCOM HQs were bragging about "jump stars" so out of anti-Airborne spite for their conceit (Hey, Airborne, STFU and talk with your actions) 3rd ID (M) had to seize Baghdad International AirPort (BIAP) and lost two days of 2D maneuver momentum enabling Saddam & subordinates to escape. Excarcerbating the 82nd not jumping into BIAP was the 173rd Airborne not having its own ORGANIC M113 Gavin Light tanks and having to slowly airland Mech-Ps from the 1st ID into Northern Iraq--the AGS back-stab curse to racketeer a mission-set for people who don't want to jump. I think the Soldiers in the 1st Infantry (M) IRF would jump if asked--as would those in the 3rd Infantry (M) IRC, too. But nobody is asking them so they are handicapped and need runways.

The way forward is clear: supply High Technology M113 Super Gavins:

to every light infantry brigade combat team's "Delta" weapons companies in each battalion:

Here's an U.S. Army Command & General Staff College School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS) report by Infantry officer, Major William Sutey on the need for cross-country MOBILITY (XCM) from M113 Gavin light tracked tanks to improve LIGHT INFANTRY FORCE mobility, protection and firepower. READ IT.

That's right, "vigorous and demanding training" not dog and pony shows, but the latter's been around for a long time, too...
I don't need someone to tell me to love their god, I'm fine with what I got, but some espirit de corps is definitely missing due in no small part to military leaders setting their subordinates up for failure.
Besides the obvious light tanks, you also mentioned on your website that a re-introduction of the pack howitzer was also a good idea. What about that?

I'm looking at the pack howitzer situation, yes. It has to be light enough so humans or mules can tow it in AFPAK in those spots where a light M113 Gavin track takes it as far as it can go.
