GRAPHIC VIDEO - Tragedy Near the Denfield Road Bridge - Deer Hit By Freight Train

A doe and her fawn were crossing the tracks near mile 5.8 on the CN Strathroy sub when a freight came around the corner. The mother side stepped the engine, but the fawn ran away from the train in the same direction as the train. Sadly, and despite the best efforts of the engineer to scare it away, it was struck. It appeared to be paralyzed, but it missed being hit by a train wheel. Maybe it's too bad that it didn't happen...

I phoned the OPP as soon as I got home to notify them of the incident. They said they would investigate and contact CN as well. I don't know what eventually happened, but I hope the poor thing didn't suffer for too long. A sad thing to witness indeed.

I'm happy my 19 month old son (held with my right arm) had his head buried in my chest with his hand over his ear because of the train horn, and he didn't see it happen.

nice thats sweet man, ya I live near Winnipeg on prairie town of few thousand I live close to rail road, but the road you on would be sweet to just stand on

@CFLNHLFIFAFAN Denfield Rd is one of the few spots in Ontario where the CN and CP run side by side. On top of that, it's out of the city and nice and quiet there... until the trains go by.

Most certainly. Im thinking about going into the air force and when I'm retired hopefully being a train conductor wether it be passenger or freight but i would hope that will never happen to me
