The conversation continues at bTWEEN.co.uk

Digitised content is easy to share and copy. That is exactly what people do with it: often illegally and often free. There is no turning back

Some see this radical change as the tragic demise of traditional business. Others seize disruption as opportunity. They turn technology to their advantage, reach new audiences, sculpt new business models and reap the benefits

Traditional copyright laws, if rigidly applied to this new ecosystem, would strangle the convergent creativity and collaborative culture of Web 2.0. Creative Commons licenses empower content providers, giving them flexibility to decide what, when and how they choose to protect and share

More and more film makers, musicians and writers move from copyright to CC. Sharing and re-mixing on the content creator's own terms gives rise to unexpected opportunities

Cory, an award winning author, practices what he preaches: his novels are released free online, concurrent to their retail release. They sell well, despite or because of CC. He will outline how an open source approach to content can reap rewards.
