Wonder Girls Become Korean Teachers

Wonder Girls found time in its busy schedule to help out children from multicultural families.

A rep from Gifto, an organization that tries to promote donation culture, stated, "On January 12, Wonder Girls visited the corporation Love for the World, an institution that supports multicultural families, in Seoul to teach the 30 children gathered there 'Korean that connects hearts.'"

The event was co-hosted by Korea's largest social portal website Happy Bean and was helped by the volunteer work team of Woori Investment & Securities.

Calligraphist Lee Sang Hyun also supported the event by sending in T-shirts designed with the Wonder Girls members' names. The girls became teachers for a day, and taught th children Korean onomatopoeic words that would make learning Korean more interesting.

The way the girls were passionate toward their roles and worked hard to teach the children as many words as possible reached the hearts of the children, bringing them to follow along in a bright atmosphere.

Yubin said about the event, "Children are our future and our hope. No matter where they're from, and what color their skin is, isn't what matters. I believe it's important to live together."

The reason why the Wonder Girls members chose Korean as the subject to teach during their visit was because they themselves had learned the importance of Korean while traveling across the world.

Lim said about Korean, "It's a very warm language, and it contains the affection that connects people together. It makes you feel relaxed."

"It may be a new language, but I hope the children live on with the same connected feelings," Sohee added.

An official from Gifto stated that the visit was all the more meaningful because the group had forgone many other year-end events to attend this one.

The help from 3,000 donators of Happy Bean's Happy Energy event made this multicultural event possible.

If the number of comments reach 5,000, CDs signed by the Wonder Girls members will be given out as prizes, while if the number of donators reaches 10,000, three more CDs will be auctioned for more donations. Videos taken during the Wonder Girls' visit can be seen on Gifto's official webpage.

  • Wonder Girls are the Queens after all. It called giving back love as much as you receive it. They seems so sincere and down-to-earth that they make all the other idols look bad. Becuz it seems like idols or singers these days just want to be singer to be famous and get pay alot. Sad.
