The Household Cavalry ride down The Mall

The mounted bands of The Life Guards and The Blues and Royals lead the Household Cavalry off down The Mall from Buckingham Palace to Horse Guards Parade for the second full rehearsal for Trooping the Colour.

This final rehearsal is called The Colonel's Review because the parade is reviewed by the Colonel of the guards whose colour is being trooped - this year the Irish Guards.

As you can see it was a wet and windy morning. The bands are led by the Director of Music with the two magnificent drum horses behind. Each drum horse carries two silver kettle drums which weigh 65lbs each (almost 30kg).

Makes ya proud to be British. This is our heritiage and we should display it more often than we do at present. Its appalling to find some people think this is offensive these days. What have we come to? I have a neighbour who got a fine for flying the union jack in his back garden. I mean it looks like its a crime to be proud of your heritage these days. Utterly disgusting.

Sorry for the rant, however when I watch these videos it gets my back up lol. Should probably stop for my own good :)
