I agree with your comment in that It's not sensationalized, just documented, and it's the last video we'll ever see of the lovely Kingpin. However, if it's upsetting to the families, perhaps it would just be kind & considerate to edit it out.

I agree, the footage of Kingpin should be taken out.

I'd like to say I'm pleased there is some coverage of what happened beyond people's memories for those of us horse people who would like to know what happened. I don't think it's bad taste you have it up here. It helps us understand and come to terms with what happened, particularly after reading reports on it. So thank you for keeping this up.

I wrote to Rolex that they should ban dogs on the XC course and they stated they would lose revenue because spectators wouldn't come w/o their dogs. tens of thousands of people- a few hundred dogs on xc course. HJ shows in FL have doggie day care. Rolex also stated loose dogs have disrupted XC before and called the woman stupid (gee, y'think?). Buck's horse was bitten on the hock. If Rolex doesn't man up and ban dogs on xc, someone's gonna get hurt and sue.

Emma, I am sorry you feel that way. I mean no disrespect to your family or Kingpin's memory. I did not publicize this clip by putting it by itself or putting Kingpin's name anywhere on it. I stopped recording that clip when it became apparent something was wrong. I in no way think Mr. Winters rode inappropriately or failed Kingpin at this event; who could know what was going on internally in a horse in a second before an obstacle which needed commitment from horse and rider to cross safely?

My condolences to you and Kingpin's family.

Perhaps the child talking in the first clip (my dog chases horses) is clairvoyant because I do believe that is Buck Davidson jumping and this jump was prior to the dog chasing him later in the course! How odd!

Yes. I stopped recording when he did not get up. He did try to get up though. I saw his tail shaking and him stick his hindleg out stiffly as he was being examined. He was alive when the privacy screen was moved around him. He had jumped the squirrel jumps prior to this jump and had seemed tired at them; like he barely made it over. Then he had a strong gallop between the jumps and I started recording at the turn to this jump.
