I think most of the adult German population at the time should be held partly responsible for the nazi attrocities. They allowed Germany's name to be tarnished for generations to come. I for one will never buy German products.

let me know what books youve read becuase ive never read any books that say the whole german population was in on genocide that were truely a credible historian. look int o a hypothetical time where a wagon full of money because of the versille treaty chouldnt get you a loaf of bread. now imagine that going on for years and not only that .... ill finish later i got to go.

Well...that is a sad truth though. However...there is no room for glorification...on no side. I am not a big friend of communism and the Stalin regime....The outcome of teh battle kept Stalin´s regime alive and sure that was not best for millions of Russians. On the other hand Nazi-Germany with its racist idiology of being the defender of the bolschevic pest would not have been a good option either. It is good the conflict is over as too many people lost their lifes for basically nothing...

You are right, but this is not a Stalins sin. It's very sad to say, but in some times, it was the only key to survive. For example:

Germans mg42 was a very powerful enemy for Russian infantry. It was better than other mgs. People knew, that they would die storming that bunker with MGs. But that bunker was placed in a strategic point. Ofcourse commanders said: "Charge!". Ofcourse they shot everyone who was running backwards. It was the only choice. But Commanders died too if the infantry failed.

Well...you can twist it as you want...I have read some memoirs of Russian veterans. Defending your country is one thing...but I am sure the individual fate of your grandpa does fit in there but that still does not justify a stalin regime which fucked its people as much as Nazi-Germany did...

hah. My grandpa was fighting on the SU side. And he didn't do that because of fear. He did it because his family was in danger. His brother was killed by Germans in example. You talk about things that you couldn't even imagine, so be more polite and read some memoirs of the Veterans.

The burning rage of revenge? Guess most Russians just had the choice to decide between two evil....one was Stalin who killed at least as many Russians as the other one...Hitler´s Stormtroopers. The decision was mostly based on the simple fact that if you have no choice you decide for the one who speaks at least your language...
