  • Actually, weighing thinset components is faster than mixing by eye and more accurate. It's surprising how many tile setters – even experienced ones – can't mix thinset as accurately as they think they can. And why bother spending the time trickling in a little more water or a little more powder when you can get it all done fast in one go?

  • Yes, that's right. Ditra is used instead of cement board. It needs to be supported properly by a regular subfloor, but other than that there are no special measures required.

As for kurotora1's comments, I'm not sure what you mean. The grout lines in this installation were flawless and consistent. Perhaps my videos angles were misleading. Please point out where, so I can address that. Also, if I've included a misspelling somewhere in the video, please point that out too, so I can make it right

  • if u have to weigh your components after this long setting tile, maybe you're in the wrong business

  • @kurotora1 "installer needs to come back to the Contractors School" Why should they? If your out there you'd know hacksters get away with this routinely, right or wrong it's reality. The market is over saturated & it's an absolute crap shoot for the un suspecting customer. The majority of customers go cheap,& quality contractors lose out, unless you can tear out the disaster and re do it, then it's win - win, ask Holmes, it's easy to look like a hero

  • @smaxwell1963 I think maybe he was referring to the method of "texturing" which I noticed, too. Not many, if any, tile guys grout along the line, like tuckpointing, but rather texture in circles to get even grout joints, as well as clean-sponging diagonally to remove the haze. But heck, this is a video on Ditra installation, not grouting, ain'a?

  • so deitra is used instead of a concrete backing board?

  • Never trust Luck, use the Tile Puck.....
