This is a device myself and my cousin made from some old clock parts (Dont worry they were barely servicable; rusty and missing the hands, case and some other important parts) I modified this clock movement to spin freely by taking out the escapement. I soldered a wheel made from a tin can and copper wire to where the hands were previously and I affixed with bolts and a hinge some other wheels on the other side, which were parts from an old tape player and VCR.

Then when wound it would tootle along, it does not like to run on carpet because the wheel has some sticky out bits that get stuck but it runs on newspaper and smooth floors just fine!

This is what you should be doing with old clock movements!
