A footballer who obtained an injunction over allegations about his private life is taking legal action against Twitter and some of its users.
The action apparently relates to tweets which named several celebrities and accused them of having taken out the gagging orders.
Among the stars named was Jemima Khan who subsequently used her own Twitter account to rubbish the claims about her.
The original injunction was taken out by the footballer against a newspaper and Imogen Thomas - the former Big Brother contestant.Twitter has not yet responded to the action, but the news came on the day that the results of a year-long review into the use of so-called gagging orders were published by the Master of the Rolls and Lord Chief Justice.
Super-injunctions and other injunctions "can only be granted when they are strictly necessary", the judges said.
"They cannot be granted so as to become, in practice, permanent.
"Where super-injunctions and anonymised injunctions are granted they should be kept under review by the court."-----Good luck suing Twitter-----
