A lot of people have asked me how I make my cakes. I hope this helps answer your questions. This is a groom's cake I did for a wedding near Nashville. It is 100% edible.

  • what did you use for the middle part of the cake, like the icing stuff tht kept the cake together or do you have any suggestions on what I could use to get the fondant to stay on the cake? Last question. How do you pronounce fondant?

  • I used chocolate buttercream as the filling and on the sides to make the fondant stick to the cake. As for the pronunciation, I say "fawn dawnt". Some people say "fawn dunt". Not really sure if either is right or wrong.

  • oh, ok thx.

Is there anyway to make the fondant taste better?

The last cakes I made, the fondant didn't taste great at all, it's too sweet.

  • Just try a different maker of fondant. You may like the taste of fondx or Satin Ice.

  • I had no clue what you were making at first, but near the end I started to understand. Amazing job! I hope with practice i can do this as well!

  • @cakephoria Oh I have so many questions. What do you do with the pieces you carve off? Is it weird to make or eat a cake that looks like some other type of food? How long does this take you? Do the cakes ever, like, settle and fall apart? Nice job, and cool choice of music!

They didn't use a piping bag to put fondant on, fondant is the sugary white dough that this person covers the whole cake with, they use the piping bag to put the buttercream on which is in between each layer and then covers the whole cake under the fondant. If you meant why do they use a piping bag to put buttercream on, well that's just because it's a whole lot easier and neater.

  • brilliant cake. just a query tho why use a piping bag to put the fondant on with. why not use just a nomal off set spatula?

  • That is insane cool! How long did that really take you? Looks like very hard work. The giant hot dog cake looks awesome!

  • 44 people hate hot dogs
