HIp hop has been perpetuating negative stereotypes since the late 80's. If it were going to die, it would be dead. The dudebros in the greek houses will keep buying the crap, and it will live on just like crappy stereotypical country music, and crappy stereotypical rock n roll music.
Most of the commercial hip hop that is on the radio is overproduced talentless garbage, but the same can be said for most any genre of music. Real music lovers know where to find the good stuff.
